WOD Doc: Stability Solution for Overhead Shoulder Work, Part 1
Episode 54: for many, overhead work with a barbell, military press or with dumb bells can be challenging. Often, a lack of external shoulder rotation (See Subscapularis release), or improper locking down of the ribs, “Rib Flare”, are the culprits.
Test this by using a PVC pipe standing as well as in the deep squat position. Rib Flare, or lack of wrist/hand contact against the wall are failed attempts. Perform the Wall Angel and fight for external rotation.
Wall Angels:
Note in the below video that the instructor has her wrists and hands on contact with the wall. Perform 3×15 with a 3 second raise and lower for maximal results.
