What you need to know:
- it is ‘nature’s Gatorade’, but it does not contain all the essential minerals and vitamins we need for complete recovery
- it contains sodium, but no potassium and minimal magnesium
- from a carbohydrate breakdown, coconut water is 35% fructose and 65% glucose
- literature states this is an ideal ratio for recovery and endurance
- the age of the nut will affect the ratio, where younger nuts have closer to a 35/65 ratio
- Hydration: according to the literature, coconut water does not rehydrate you any better than water does.
